Year 1 had a great afternoon in the sunshine planting our vegetable seeds in the new allotment area as part of our Science topic 'Growth'. We listened carefully to where to plant the seeds, wrote labels and watered them carefully. We will visit the area regularly to water the plants and see how they are growing. Thank you for your help Mr Metcalfe!
Important message - Due to the adverse weather conditions school will be closed today Friday 10th March 23 for all children and staff.
Further information about work will be shared with all families via your child’s Class Dojo page.
Dear Parents/Carers,
I wrote to you last week informing you of the possibility of strikes. You may be aware from media coverage that the NEU have declared strike action on four separate days, the first day will be 1st February. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government and not because of any issues at our school.
I’m getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible about our arrangements;
The school will be open for the following classes;
Nursery, RB, RS, 1M, 1C, 2R, 2L, 4G, 5I, 5E and 6B.
I appreciate that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child at short notice, and/or that they will experience disruption to their education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. Walverden Primary remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and delivering high-quality teaching.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further. Please keep an eye out for any further updates regarding this situation.
If you have any questions, please contact Miss Ahmed on 01282 614834.
Kind regards,
Humma Ahmed
Headteacher

What a lovely treat! Year 1 finally finished reading our class story 'Charlie and the Chocolate factory' so we celebrated this afternoon by having a lovely hot chocolate and chocolate coin surprise!
The children have really enjoyed listening to this story at hometimes. It has been our favourite so far - I wonder which one we will start reading in January?
We are the Lunch Time Heroes. We are working towards the Food For Life award.
We have sent out questionnaires and devised our action plan. We have decided that at first we want to tackle waste and space.
We want to to cut down on how much food is wasted and try to make the space we sit in more comfortable for us all
On Thursday 29th September Year 3 went to Pendle Sculpture Trail as we have been learning all about the Pendle Witches in the Elizabethan times. Have a look at some of the sculptures we found in the forest!
It's great to see Year 3 making use of our new French practical resources to support their French learning with Miss Bevis; recognising numbers and ordering them too! Well done Year 3!
