I can confirm that it is neither national nor local policy to take kids into care if they show symptoms. This is a myth and I’d request your support please to reassure parents.
Schools are being sent test kits. If any child shows symptoms, they will be sent home with the test kit so that parents can take a sample swiftly and send it to the lab (instructions should be there with the kit). This is in addition to the community testing that is available.
The risk of severe infection in young children is very low. There are no specific restrictions on schools from reopening in Pendle.
As you know, every school has been working hard in preparing to welcome children back. In case of an incident our or outbreak, we have a well rehearsed process in place to support the schools and parents.
