Our Design and Technology curriculum provides children with opportunities to design, make and evaluate a wide range of products while developing practical skills, creativity and problem-solving abilities. Beginning in the Early Years, children explore food preparation, cutting and joining techniques, and simple construction activities. As they progress through the school, pupils build their understanding of key areas of Design and Technology, including structures, textiles, food technology, mechanisms and electrical systems. Learning is brought to life through engaging, real-world projects such as designing puppets, creating healthy snacks, constructing shelters, making electrical products and developing mechanisms. Wherever possible, projects are linked to topics being studied across the wider curriculum, helping children make meaningful connections between their learning. Through this approach, pupils develop the confidence, resilience and technical knowledge needed to design purposeful products and become creative, innovative thinkers.
