Our Geography curriculum helps children develop a curiosity about the world and an understanding of the places, people and environments that shape it. In the Early Years, children begin by exploring their local area, seasons, maps and the world around them. As they progress through school, pupils deepen their geographical knowledge through studies of communities, habitats, rivers, coasts, volcanoes, climate, trade, the Amazon rainforest, Europe and environmental issues. Children learn to use maps, atlases and geographical vocabulary while developing an understanding of how physical and human features shape the world. Through exploring both local and global environments, pupils gain an appreciation of different cultures, develop their awareness of sustainability and environmental responsibility, and build the skills needed to understand an ever-changing world
